Al DeAngelo's "Ace of Spades" Influenced Pacers
(1927-1983)
One of the best stock car drivers
from 1949 through the 1970's. Winner of
Islip Speedway's Modified Stock Car Crown for the years: 1949, 1950, 1951,
1952, 1953, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1963.
Along with multi track championships at & Dexter Park, Al was also in the top ten NASCAR modified drivers in 1957, and 1959.
In 1959 he ran his famous 1940 Ford
Fuel Injected Thunderbird powered "Ace Of Spades" coupe on the
new Daytona Speedway and had it get airborne as the wind got caught under its
fenders at 140 mph.
Al scored 107 stock car victories and 10 T.Q. Midget victories from 1949-1981.
Today the freshly restored Ace Of Spades is on display at the Himes Museum in Bayshore Long Island..
